New accounts and services
On November 15, your current Sunshine Coast Financial chequing and savings accounts will automatically transition to new accounts designed to give you access to a more modern banking experience that supports your everyday financial needs. Below is a short summary about each of the new account offerings.
As some monthly account fees and service fees may change, please review the personal banking transition guide and the product comparison tables in the appendix for full details.
If you currently have a Canadian dollar (CAD) chequing account, it will automatically become an Unlimited Chequing Account on the Transition Date, featuring:
- Unlimited day-to-day transactions
- Free Interac e-Transfers®
- Complimentary access to ID Assist® Online Identity Theft Protection (a value of $96 annually)
If you have a U.S. dollar (USD) chequing or savings account it will automatically transition to the U.S. Chequing Account. The U.S. Chequing Account offers unlimited deposits and the ability to write cheques in US dollars.
Refer to personal banking transition guide product appendix for more details
If you currently hold a non-registered savings account, it will automatically become a High-Interest Savings Account (HISA).
To provide continuity and value during this transition, the interest rate in effect on your account immediately before the Transition Date will continue to apply for six months following the Transition Date, through to May 14, 2027.
If you have a mortgage, loan, line of credit or term deposit, these products will continue to operate as they do today and there will be no changes to key terms such as:
- Interest rates
- Payment schedules
- Borrowing limits
- Remaining terms
- Account balances
Note: Auto renewal instructions and the name for some GICs will change. See section 4 in the personal banking transition guide for more details.
Membership and account numbers
To uniquely identify you and your accounts in your new banking system, you will be provided with a new membership number(s) (currently known as a member number) and account number(s) effective on the Transition Date. Your new membership and account numbers will be shared with you in an individualized letter in late October.
If you have any joint accounts (for example, you and your partner share a chequing account) in addition to accounts that are only under your name, you will see multiple membership numbers when you sign on to online or mobile banking after the Transition Date. This is because our new banking system is set up to assign a separate membership number for any joint relationship.
You’ll also have a separate membership number assigned for any registered products, such as Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) or Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) . As such, the way you see your accounts and memberships structured in our Online Banking, statements and debit cards will look a little different after this transition.
- You may receive more than one debit card and more than one statement
If you have any joint chequing or non-registered savings accounts in addition to accounts that are only under your name, you will receive a letter with a unique debit card for each membership. Likewise, you will receive a separate statement for each membership. While your statements may look a little different, the same important information will remain. - Pre-authorized payments and cheques will be processed as normal
Although your membership and account numbers are changing, any pre-authorized withdrawals and payments will continue to be processed as normal. Existing cheques with old account numbers will continue to work.
Please note - no action is required by you. The following changes will take effect on November 15:
- Your view in online banking and the mobile banking app will be updated to align with this new membership structure and may include new membership numbers per joint account or certain products
- You will only see registered accounts like TFSAs and RRSPs that are in your name
- You will see your own $5 shares, along with any other membership shares from joint accounts, in a combined balance.
Below is an example of what you may see in online banking as a result of the changes to your existing sole accounts, shares and any accounts that you may be joint on. This image shows joint memberships, individual profile memberships, registered products, and sole individual memberships.

If you currently receive direct deposits, or have recurring bill payments, or pre-authorized debits (with one exception outlined below) these will be automatically transferred to your new account.
Exception: If you have personally set up recurring or future-dated transfers from your Sunshine Coast Financial account to another personal account you have at another financial institution, these pre-authorized debits will not be carried over to your new account. You will need to take action to re-establish these transfers from your new account following the Transition Date. However, if a third-party, such as a utility provider, is automatically withdrawing payments from your account under a pre-authorized debit agreement, those withdrawals will continue without interruption following the Transition Date.
While your existing alerts from Sunshine Coast Financial will not carry over, you will automatically start receiving low balance alerts. For more details, please view Section 3.4 of the personal banking guide. Please note alert messages will now come from CCSFederalCU.
No action is required from you at this time. The changes will happen automatically, and you will see the updated information on your statement or when you log in to digital banking after the transition.
